How to grow: Sow directly outdoors April–July into well-prepared soil, sowing seeds around 2–3 cm deep. Thin seedlings to around 30 cm apart. Keep soil consistently moist, especially in dry spells. Harvest young leaves regularly to encourage fresh growth. Chard will often continue cropping well into autumn. This variety is not frost hardy, so grow other varieties if you would like to keep harvesting after the first hard frost.
Cooking / usage ideas: Use leaves like spinach in stir-fries, soups, or pies. Stems can be chopped and cooked separately or added to dishes for colour and texture.
