Carter’s Polish’is a heritage climbing French bean that produces long, tender green pods with excellent flavour. Perfect for fresh eating, stir-fries, or freezing, it’s a reliable and productive variety for any garden. Climbing up to 2.5 metres, it makes great use of vertical space.

Description

Best Grown: Outdoors in beds, borders, or large pots with support
Sowing Time: April–June
Plant Out: Late May onwards, once frost risk has passed
Harvest Time: July–September (approx. 10–12 weeks from sowing)
Spacing: Plant 15–20 cm apart in rows 45 cm apart
Height: Climbs up to 2–2.5 m tall

How to grow: Sow seeds indoors April–May or direct outdoors late May–June once soil has warmed. Sow seeds 3–5 cm deep, spacing 15–20 cm apart. Provide canes or netting for support. Water well, especially during flowering and pod formation. Harvest regularly for continuous cropping.

Cooking / usage ideas: Enjoy pods steamed, stir-fried, or chopped into salads. Also excellent blanched and frozen for later use.
