How to grow: Sow seeds April–June into seed trays or a prepared seedbed. Transplant seedlings once large enough, spacing well to allow plants to develop fully. Keep soil moist and weed-free. Harvest young leaves early for salads, or pick outer leaves regularly from mature plants to encourage continued growth through autumn and winter.

Cooking / usage ideas: Use young leaves raw in salads or lightly wilted. Mature leaves are excellent sautéed, steamed, or added to soups and stews.
