How to grow: Sow seeds April–June into seed trays or a prepared seedbed. Transplant seedlings once large enough, spacing well to allow plants to develop fully. Keep soil moist and weed-free. Harvest outer leaves regularly to encourage continued growth. Plants tolerate frost well and often improve in flavour after cold weather.
Cooking / usage ideas: Use leaves steamed, sautéed, or added to soups and stews. Younger leaves are tender enough for salads, while mature leaves are ideal for hearty winter dishes.
